Gimmie Dat [Cocobeet]

I just recently started working in Downtown Boston, so I've been busy scoping out all of the little eateries around my office. One day this past week I was sitting at my desk, reaching that 11:00 slump (as you do), and dreading the fact that I would have to venture out into the KILLER wind to get my lunch. My beautiful coworker McKenna, in all of her extremely healthy glory (bless her), recommended Cocobeet, a little juice bar and vegan eatery just across the street.

One of the cases containing cold-pressed juices and health shots.
I had heard of Cocobeet previously, but had never had the chance to go. Excited to find out that it was only steps away, I bundled the hell up and headed out. The store front is awesome - small, very minimal and clean, and packed with cold cases overflowing with fresh cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and vegan eats.

Bottles of "Green Genes," the juice that I ended up buying.
Every juice has a corresponding label telling you what it's "good for." Because I was feeling a little under the weather, I went for "Green Genes," a green juice made from kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, apple, parsley, lemon, and ginger that was labeled as "good for immune health." It was crazy good - very fresh and flavorful without being too overwhelming like some green juices can be. I was in awe of all of the food options as well, picking up salad after salad, raw desserts, and fresh sides.

Cocobeet's chia pudding.
Because it was freezing out, and I was already buying a cold-pressed juice, I ordered a side of their vegan shitake bean chili to warm up a bit. I chose not to take a photo of it (do you know how hard it is to take an appetizing photo of chili?) so you're just gonna have to trust me when I say that it was some of the best chili I've ever had. I'm going to warn you now, this is not the place to come for a cheap meal. All of their ingredients are fresh, organic, and locally sourced, and the prices reflect that. After all, each juice requires literal pounds of produce to make. As is typical with most food, you get what you pay for at this joint.

Health shots.
After all is said and done, I'll definitely be returning to Cocobeet when I need a healthy pick-me-up. Their employees are all very friendly and helpful, and their products, or at least the ones that I tried, are to die for (but you won't, what with how damn healthy they are).
