Don't Sleep On: Post Malone

image via Pigeons and Planes
It is quite possible that he has become rap's most unlikely and random success, and for that, I thank fate. With such an original vibe that when linked with an average sized white kid with a grill and two Alan Iverson plaits running along each side of his head, he is nothing short of refreshing. Upon listening to his breakout track White Iverson a couple of months back, I most definitely was not expecting him look like he does, but I'm kind of glad he's not easy to read. With as little as we know about Post Malone, we are still glad he is effortlessly making his mark.

Listen to Him:

It was unsettling having to just pick one track to feature mainly because the kid rarely drops something I don't love. He produces the perfect vibes for a wavy Saturday soaking in the sun or taking a meaningless drive around town. Even if you're spending an evening in the "trap" with some good pals, slide your phone on to the AUX chord and watch your friends slowly but surely enjoy his sound. It is almost impossible to pretend you're not feeling him, so it'll be easy to weed out the haters.

Learn From Him:

As a self proclaimed basketball and rap music fan, Post Malone also grew up listening to country music and the classic rock legends. While some people don't understand his motive, his music, nor his look, some even going as far to calling him the poor man's Riff Raff, he seems to uphold a strong outlook on his life and his music. He is also a living example of the lack in need to superscribe to certain lifestyle or look to love what you love; music is universal its' culture is everywhere.

Watch Him:

If you're like me, you rarely trust the hype unless it has to do with Justin Bieber, Kevin Hart, or kale. It is easy to sell your soul to an artist or a fad that has nothing to show but the hype they generate, but trust me when I say Post Malone is as genuine and talented as it gets. Some artists love to hide behind their trusty auto-tune, but take a listen to this old Bob Dylan cover he did a while back and soak in his brimming raw talent. Although he is hyped, he does not deserve to be slept on for being this good, I'm sure it's not his fault.

The more, the merrier.
