Whether we like to admit it or not, we all have our guilty pleasure musician that we just cannot get enough of. I am definitely guilty on all counts and with every genre such as Pop, Indie, Alternative, R&B, Hip Hop (*cough* Aubrey Drake Graham *cough*), and so many others.
Finding a modern day musician to love in those genres is pretty easy considering they, as well as their music, are in the public spotlight so often, but tell me, when have you heard of someone gushing over a modern day Soul singer? Let's be real, the answer to that is never. Well, look no further, ladies and gents, as I present to you: Leon Bridges
New to the mainstream soul scene, Leon is slowly, but surely, taking over with his warm, melty vocals and jazzy-tempo beats. If that is not enough to get you to love him, here are five reasons why Leon Bridges is your new Soul bae:
You know that feeling of pure bliss that you get when you wrap yourself up in a blanket from straight out of the dryer? That sense of, "Ahh, yes. This is what life is all about?" That feeling of euphoria is almost identical to what Leon's soulful, spirited songs will make you feel. Try and listen to one song and tell me you didn't get chills. Go ahead, I'll wait.
If there is one thing our society can appreciate, it is a handsomely dressed male, and Leon definitely fits the bill. He rocks a retro 60s look, matching his music, that makes him unique in today's music society. 3. His passionate lyrics
Not everyone can succeed in serenading people with lyrics that make any and everyone swoon, but ya boy Leon definitely can. If you are a sap like me, the passion in Leon's music will definitely get to you. His heart melting lyrics will definitely get stuck in your head. I honestly would not have believed this one if I had not seen it for myself. Nowadays, when you see a fedora, the first thing that comes to mind is probably something along the lines of, " This is some f**kboy/Meninist type shit," but not with Leon. Tbh, any guy that can wear a fedora, without giving off the vibe that he is a douchey, Reddit using, misogynistic Brony, is definitely someone special. You go, Leon!
If none of the above made you want to hop on the Bridges Express, at least you can appreciate his natural beauty tied in with his retro-suave look. I mean, look at him! Seriously, take a look! You can stare, I promise I won't judge you.
