Majid Jordan: Album Review
Up until February 5th, I was completely unable to identify a sound that matched up with my personality. But along came Majid Jordan's latest project and I was met with an equal. The sound encompassed a combination of old-school warm beats and the modern alternative rnb, once again proving that this duo is a force to be reckoned with. With the release of their first self titled full-length, this OVO talent has made waves in the industry by recreating a sound that is universal and honestly what everyone could use in their playlists.
Let's talk Top Tracks. The album is 12 tracks long and flows effortlessly making it very tough to pick just one favorite track - which is why I picked 4. Opening with Learn From Each Other, a vibey head banger that sets the tone and theme of the album, they introduce you to the continuous vibe you're about to willingly drown in. The lyrics and production are beautiful and the song made my top 4 immediately. Naturally, I stopped along the way to listed to My Love featuring my sweet Aubrey, but found myself hitting the repeat button when stumbling upon track number 7, the sweet and slow ballad Love Is Always There. It's a different tempo for the duo but they pull it off smoothly while maintaining their desired sound. Skip forward to track 10, Day and Night, and instantly be welcomed by an old-school soul/disco fusion beat and a catchy melody. If I didn't already have a favorite song off the album, this track would be the end all be all. I feel like it's the perfect soundtrack as I picture myself in a grossly overdone 70's sequin gown spinning under a disco-ball, but maybe that's just me. Last but certainly not last, my favorite song from this glorious album closes it out with the heaviest and smoothest baseline you've ever experienced. Every Step Every Way brings you base, brings you style, and brings you the best close to any album you've heard in a while. You'll be humming this melody to yourself for the next week and probably find yourself boppin' in public when the base drops.
Not only is this album holistically a work of art, but it is full of hits you are bound to vibe with. Majid Jordan, we bow down. Be sure to check out the top tracks mentioned in the post right below.
