CFDA Awards 2015: Who Killed It (and who did not)...

The Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards - the CFDA Awards as they are more frequently called. This is an award ceremony that I cared very little about until I became more and more intrigued by street style, and I also didn't hate mother Riri's see-through Swarovski gown and head scarf at last year's ceremony. Regardless, it's probably the biggest American fashion event apart from the Met Gala, and both the nominees and the attendees represent the best of the best in fashion today. Here's a few highlights of who killed it- and who did not.

Killed It:
Gigi Hadid (obviously)

GIGI STOOOOOP like...stop. Please. But don't. So classic without being boring. Gigi never drops the ball. This woman is constantly a class act, constantly effortless, and constantly makes me giggle with delight whenever I see her grace a red carpet. What a goddess.

Did Not Kill It:
Katherine McPhee

This is so offensive, Katherine. Mostly because this outfit had the potential to be really sleek and instead of utilizing a slicked up top knot and a classic pair of pumps, you pulled some stupid stuff with those atrocious spectacles. Lose the goggles on the red carpet and never find them.


Killed It:
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen 

MOMS. They won this year's award for Womenswear for their line The Row. And they look distinguished as HELL. Their makeup and hair and the way these clothes fit them are insanely cohesive and well thought out. I'm all in for females going more masculine on the red carpet and they do it so, so well.

Did Not Kill It:
Kelly Osborne

I almost fell asleep looking at this picture. The hair, the cropped metallic top, I am utterly unimpressed. Not that Kelly ever impresses me with her outfits. 2012 is calling, it wants every damn thing in this picture back.

Killed It:
Katie Holmes

Let me explain. Lots of people are hating on Katie because the dress was "wrinkled" and her hair was decidedly deconstructed. I do not care. This look is fuego. I'm so about the simplicity of this. And the shimmery olive is so beautiful. I love it and I'm muting everyone who doesn't.
 
Did Not Kill It:
Tinashe

I am always puttin on for my bb Tinashe, but this is too sloppy. That Public School one piece would have been absolutely swag with a pair of heels, but instead, those combat boots on her feet make me weep for all that could have been. Tinashe's out here on the red carpet looking like Lenny Kravitz on his way to CVS. Not cool.

Killed It:
Vanessa Hudgens (Baby V!!!)

*screams* *sets self on fire* *ejects out of seat into the stratosphere away from this unworthy planet* I'm ending this on a high note.
