Miguel vs. Frank Ocean

image via Rap-Up
In case you live under a rock, you may not have heard about the stirring beef between Alternative R&B princes' Miguel and Frank Ocean. In a recent interview with Billboard, Miguel frankly states that he believes his own music to be better thank Frank's all around...... Naturally, I choked when I read this and immediately prepared to post up for bb Frank as I and many of you are die-hard fans of his and the beautiful creation that is Channel Orange. But then I got to thinking, is Alternative R&B even a competitive genre? Are Miguel, Frank, or The Weeknd even subscribing to the same sounds and motifs in their music? And if so, is there even a definitive hierarchy or should we just let the boys sing and be merry?

Whether or not they should be compared, we're gonna do it anyway. Let's discuss.

Frank Ocean:
Pros:
Produces own music
The reason alternative r&b came back in the first place
Absolutely precious human being
Could sing the cruelest soul to sleep
Came out as gay in a pinnacle position in a genre that is not the most accepting, but was true to himself and his fans
His entire body of work has no errors

Cons:
Random hiatus that almost cost me my life

Miguel:
Pros:
The man has major pipes and could sing circles around so called "vocalists"
His sound is ever-changing
He almost decapitated a woman on live television. Not many people can say that.
The sex appeal just drips off his curls
Never fails to produce an album of hits

Cons:
Clearly there's an ego problem that must be taken care of

Are you #TeamFrank or #TeamMiguel? Let us know! Yes, you must only choose one.
