GO:OD AM: Songs To Wake Up To
Here's the truth. I never actually enjoyed Mac Miller before he started dropping the singles from this album above (sue me). Frankly, I thought his talent was wasted on a music style geared towards frat bros and kids who like the idea of "rap" but don't know much about it at all. My negative perspective changed as soon as I listened to the entirety of the GO:OD AM album. Released on the 18th of this month, the album was widely hyped with hints at dope collabs with the likes of Ab-Soul, Miguel, Chief Keef, and the one and only based god, Lil B.
With all the hype surrounding the record, I figured the work must be fuego and Mac had finally honed in on his influences and the old school flow that comes naturally to the kid. He also samples a bit of Diddy in 100 Grandkids with a Bad Boy For Life melody that was effortlessly well done. The album flows so well and tells a dope story that hints at a different style to be expected from Mac in the future. With the perfect title, this album is filled with dope tracks to wake up to. Needless to say, I am pleasantly surprised by this album and really hope it receives the love and recognition it deserves. Mac did the damn thing.
Below, we list the 5 GO:OD AM tracks to wake up to:
1. 100 Grandkids
2. Weekend (feat. Miguel)
3. Cut the Check (feat. Chief Keef)
4. Time Flies (feat. Lil B)
5. Break the Law (feat. Juicy J
Make sure you head over to Spotify to listen to the full album.
